As most of you know, I have a beautiful little baby boy.  He’ll be 12 weeks tomorrow (3 months next week!)…I can’t even type that without getting all sentimental for how much we’ve shared already and thinking of how quickly the time has slipped away.  When Anthony was born, I politely asked my friends to not visit me in the hospital because it was December and the flu was running rampant (among other things).  But when Whitney offered to come up to the hospital to take newborn pictures, I had to accept!  I’m so glad that I did; these beautiful images (taken in my hospital room, mostly on my bed) will be treasures in our family forever.

Introducing…Anthony

Look at this insane ear hair! I love it.

Possibly my favorite picture in the entire world.

Whitney - thank you from the bottom of our hearts for coming to capture our little boy in his first days of life. We love you!

We did this shoot on the East Side. Our adventures took us to Rio Rita where my friend Bryan Nelson (Australian Cattle God Records, Austin Facial Hair Club) lives next door. He happened to be out in his yard so we asked if we could borrow his goat Yaggi. Yeah, you heard me right. Goat! An impromptu goat shoot! Ha!

This photo features the tiger artwork of one miss Hope Perkins. She and I were once roommates!

Sam’s mom contacted me about doing a Quinceanera portrait session. “Sounds fun!” I say. “By the way, do you happen to teach second grade? My son had a second grade teacher with the same name as yours.”

“Yes! I do teach second grade! Who is your son?” And I tell her his name. Peyton Tanzillo. And she appropriately replies, “Awww! He’s the greatest student I’ve ever had and he is so wonderful and nice and I wish he were my own son!”

Well, she didn’t say that. But she did say that he is a wonderful kid and she was glad to have him in her class and then she and I had a good chuckle about what a small world it is. And then I took some pretty photographs of her gorgeous daughter.

Quinn and his siblings go to the same school as my son Peyton. When Quinn needed headshots made for his budding acting career, Quinn’s mother thought of me. Quinn and I had a lot of fun while photographing this session, especially exchanging jokes. Here is one that Quinn told me: Two blueberry muffins were next to each other in a muffin pan in the oven. The first muffin said, “Man, it sure is hot in here. Ugh.” The second muffin replied, “AHHHH! A talking muffin!!”

This is my good friend and neighbor Bonnie Rue! I photographed her for an upcoming issue of Austin Monthly Magazine where her company Model Citizen will be featured. You go, girl!
